CMS Phase 3 Assessments (K-5 MAP – we will review your child’s screening results at your first quarter conference ) Required Reading - 20 minutes per night Homework: Reading 20 minutes per night. Please note title and parent signature in your child’s agenda daily. Unit projects as assigned Practice sight words as assigned (homework will be differentiated per student) Words Their Way: A phonics/spelling program that is differentiated – more information to come.

What is Balanced Literacy? Combination of word study, read aloud, guided reading/strategy groups, independent reading, writing We are a Phase 3 school! CMS has identified 3 other Elementary Schools in the Northeast Zone to be a Phase 3 school and implement Balanced Literacy (TC, Highland Creek, & Davidson) The district has provided us with many instructional resources & assessment tools!

What does it mean to be an RTI school? Goals of RTI Identify student’s current level of instruction Create prescriptive plans to address independent learning goals Use research based interventions Progress Monitor student performances towards individual learning goals

On-line computer based Universal Screener K-5 Assessments provide detailed data about where each child is currently performing Does not count towards your child’s grade! It drives instruction for the teacher Students will be assessed BOY, MOY, EOY Reports are generated and shared at your teacher conference
