9.  What is Balanced Literacy?  Combination of word study, read aloud, guided reading/strategy groups, independent reading, writing  We are a Phase 3 school!  CMS has identified 3 other Elementary Schools in the Northeast Zone to be a Phase 3 school and implement Balanced Literacy (TC, Highland Creek, & Davidson)  The district has provided us with many instructional resources & assessment tools!

10.  What does it mean to be an RTI school?  Goals of RTI  Identify student’s current level of instruction  Create prescriptive plans to address independent learning goals  Use research based interventions  Progress Monitor student performances towards individual learning goals

11.  On-line computer based Universal Screener K-5  Assessments provide detailed data about where each child is currently performing  Does not count towards your child’s grade!  It drives instruction for the teacher  Students will be assessed BOY, MOY, EOY  Reports are generated and shared at your teacher conference

12.  Rainbow Clip Chart  B.E.S.T choices folder – These will begin on Monday, September 10 th. Please check your child’s folder daily and initial.  Special Area Star Ratings & Feedback forms
