7 Captured 1. Made deal with Polish Underground to save his wife 2. 1943, escaped Ostabahn before liquidation 3. Recaptured, would have been killed had German Eastern front not collapsed

8 Barely Alive 1. 200 guards retreated west 2. 34/149,000, capture village to fix ratio 3. Trek to Mauthausen, Austria. 4. Weighing 100 pounds and barely alive, lying helplessly in barrack with strong stench until Mauthausen was liberated

9 Pauline 1. When health was restored, began gathering and preparing evidence for the U.S Army 2. Reunited with supposed dead wife, first daughter Pauline 3. Evidence he supplied was utilized in American Zone war crime trials 4. Opened Jewish Historical Documentation Center 6

10 The Eichman Dossier 1. Center was closed and files were given to Yad Vashem Archives in Israel 2. All except the Adolf Eichman file 7

11 After Adolf 1. Wiesenthal received info that Eichman was in Argentina 2. Passed info to Israel, but FBI heard he was in Damascus 3. 1959, “Ricardo Klement” captured in Buenos Aires

12 GUILTY 1. He was captured there by Israeli agents and brought to Israel for trial. Eichmann was found guilty of mass murder and executed on May 31, 1961. 9

14 Simon Wiesenthal Center In November 1977, the Simon Wiesenthal Center was founded. Today, together with its world renowned Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles and the New York “Tolerancenter”, it is an international center for Holocaust remembrance, the defense of human rights and the Jewish people.

15 “I did not forget about you” On September 20, 2005 Wiesenthal died peacefully in his sleep He was taken to Israel and laid to rest in Herzliya 11
