Not quite… Zoning is a way of separating land uses. 1916 – Equitable Building, NYC 1950’s – Memphis Adopts Zoning 1980 – Memphis/Shelby Co. adopt current zoning standard 1986 – Last major update 1986-2002 – Minor changes 2002-today – Uptown & SCBID 2007? – Convert to Unified Development Ordinance
