SWTJC STEM – ENGR 1201 cg - 10 Engineering Education - TIPS First two years, community college is a good choice Second two years (BS) and graduate (MS & PhD), you must study at a university Attend a university that is ABET accredited (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) Always seek good academic advising Obtain a catalog for your university of choice Select a discipline and apply for a major change Finish math/science sequence ASAP Keep on track by taking courses on your degree plan

SWTJC STEM – ENGR 1201 cg - 10 Engineering Education - TIPS Check for prerequisites and don’t ignore them Choose a schedule that mixes difficult and easy courses Don’t take more courses than you can handle Keep a minimum 2.00 cumulative GPA to get a degree Some special courses may also require a minimum of 2.00 Repeat D’s and F’s to erase them from your GPA Always drop or withdraw from courses you cannot complete Remember that “Incompletes” automatically turned to F’s When you get your BS, consider an advanced degree in business, law, or medicine

3. SWTJC STEM – ENGR 1201 cg - 10 Engineering Education - Resume Use the resume wizard in Microsoft Word. Select “File-New” and then “Other Documents” tab. Select “Resume Wizard”. Answer questions...save and print. Keep it and update as time goes by.
