Current State of Our Program We offer the following: – Foundation Classes A+ Certification Introduction to Networking (Network+) Cisco Semesters 1 and 2 – Advanced Classes Wireless Voice over IP Juniper Routing Digital Home Technology Integration Storage Technology Ethical Hacking

Current State of Our Program Enrollment Numbers: – We have over 200 students in the program – Strong growth in many areas – PC Technologies – Networking Technologies – Security – Employers are hiring (unfortunately more from out of state) … and they’re hiring our students

Current State of Our Program New Classroom and Lab Facilities – Building remodeled last year – Computer Lab Cisco / Juniper Routing Network Technologies – Convergence Technology Lab New lab space was added in the remodel Contains equipment racks, server farm and equipment storage for all technology – Still a work in progress … we’ll have pictures next time

What’s New Our biggest change … Stackable Certificates – We had a single certificate that covered the entire program … four fundamental classes with one elective – Problem … students would get the single certificate and most would not continue with additional classes – Solution … Create a set of “Stackable Certificates”

Goals for the Upcoming Year Program Enrollment Expansion – Work with business and industry to increase awareness of our program and work for employment opportunities – Attract students from underserved populations – Attract more women into the program

Goals for the Upcoming Year New Health Information Technologies Certificate – This is a new program that will be a cooperation between the Convergence and Allied Health programs. – The program was piloted over the previous 18 months under a $750,000 grant – The Information Technology program will use classes from the Convergence program (still under development) A+ Certificate Preparation Fundamentals of Networking Virtual Desktop: Installation, Configuration and Management Virtual Infrastructure: Installation, Configuration and Management Fundamentals of Information Security (Security+)

Concerns and Issues Budget concerns Matching students with employment opportunities Buy-in from other faculty Fighting for scarce HW/SW resources Fighting for additional sections given the budget problems and the “turf-war” between the CTE and transfer programs College IT Department cooperation
