2. The Academy of Economic Studies was founded 6 th of April 1913 through a Royal Decree. For over 90 years, ASE guided and thought many students to succeed in life. The Academy of Economic Studies of Bucharest is and intends to remain the most prestigious institution of tertiary economic and public administration education in Romania and to rank among the leading universities in Europe, due to the content and topicality of its learning processes, its innovation, dynamism, and its involvement, through strategic partnership relationships, in the national and international economic environment. Partnerships with over 50 well-known universities abroad have been established with a view to gainin recognition for the Academy of Economic Studies of Bucharest among the prestigious economic institutions worldwide. The Academy of Economic Studies of Bucharest has set up territorial centres in Alexandria, Buzãu, Curtea de Argeº, Predeal, Câmpia Turzii, Deva, Slatina, Brãila, Covasna, Mediaº, Târgoviºte, Constanþa, Ialomiþa, Piatra Neamþ, Tulcea, thus covering an important area of the country. The Academy of Economic Studies of Bucharest holds a considerable classic and virtual library, its own publishing house, printing house and television studio. This is the result of the quasi-centennial tradition of the Romanian economic education. In the next chapter we shall take a trip in the history of the city of Bucharest and of the Academy since 1913 up to the present times, within the context of building a European Higher Education Area.
