Phonics Lesson Objectives: Use word parts to decode words with syllable pattern C+le. Review syllable patterns V/CV, VC/V. Blend and read words that contain the syllable pattern C+le and VCV words. Apply decoding strategies: blend longer words.

Is the vowel in the first syllable long or short? Now look at the second word. Raise your hand when you know where it should be divided. Is the vowel sound long or short?

Test Tip Don't assume that all nouns that end in s are plural. Some singular nouns also end in s. Singular Nouns: The class rode on a bus. Plural Nouns: Three buses picked up the two classes

Review Work in pairs. One partner say each spelling word aloud. The other partner should spell the word correctly, either by spelling it out loud or writing it on a piece of paper.
