Brief History For various reasons, the State Transportation Department has accumulated properties not needed for current or future transportation projects. Criticism resonated from both the legislative branch and judicial branch of government. The Department had to take steps to be more proactive both in identifying the surplus property it owned and in disposing of it. Approximately 299 parcels available for sale and an additional 96 parcels that suitable for leasing.

Impact of Statute Encourages District Offices to be more proactive with disposal of surplus properties. Continuously explores and supports innovative methods to dispose of surplus properties. Provided relief to previous statutory disposal limitations.
