MASDIR approved WG Meeting room full (>50) – lot of interest Product: directory of metadata standards for research datasets Purpose: reduce reinventing the wheel and improve best practice Plan – Define ‘to be’ metadata standards directory – Note ‘as is’ especially DCC directory – Document gaps and requirements Not just human readable / useable Mappings and convertors documented fully for interoperation Need access to experts on each standard – social network of community Evaluation of standards by community comment – send questionnaire / survey of meeting attendees to improve specification of the ‘to be’ directory (1 mth) – meantime improve DCC coverage Generate form (Jane Greenberg team with DCC team) (3 mth) > 50% of attendees said they would contribute input (6mth) – And generate use cases for use of the proposed directory (9mths)

MIG approved IG Introduced – Relationship to MASDIR – Long term IG – umbrella across WGs and IGs with interest in metadata Purpose – Specifically for interoperation Given the vast diversity of metadata of research datasets What is the lowest common level of metadata to permit discovery and contextualising for interoperation and re-use Implies metadata interoperation to connect communities at this level: DC, DCAT, ICAT, INSPIRE, CKAN, eGMS Already CERIF mappings to all of these (ENGAGE Project) Actions – Read the charter – Join the IG (webpage) – Indicate interests – specially co-membership of RDA WGs, IGs – Propose areas of activity (in addition to interoperation / (re-) use)
