All absences must be reported by NOON the day of the absence in order to be excused ◦ Parents have received an email or letter explaining the new policies and procedures ◦ Additional information is available on the website

Students are expected to arrive to class on time Excessive, repeated, or patterned tardies may result in school discipline, including loss of credit Arriving to class more than 10 minutes late is considered an absence Tardies may not be excused for 1 st hour

For Excused Absences and School Business Absences - You will have as many days as you were absent to make up the work ◦ If you are absent on Monday, work is due on Wednesday ◦ If you are absent Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, work is due on Thursday Full credit is earned if turned in within the allotted timeframe Pre-arranged absences of greater than 3 days - If work is provided by the teacher during your absence, you will have only three days to turn in all work ◦ Absent for M -> F, work is due on Thursday

Classwork while on suspension is expected to be completed and turned in Full credit is earned if turned in within the timeframe Suspensions of 3 days or fewer - you have as many days as you are suspended to turn in the work Suspensions of greater than 3 days - If work is provided by the teacher during your suspension, you will have only three days to turn in all work ◦ OSS for M -> F, work is due on Thursday

Classwork from an unexcused absence may result in loss of credit for the assignment, project, activity, or test Absences must be reported by a parent or guardian by NOON the day of the absence An unexcused absence may result in a discipline consequence Excessive, repeated, or patterned unexcused absences may result in loss of credit

Assignments such as papers, presentations, and other previously assigned graded events will be expected to be completed and submitted on the day the student returns to class if the due date coincides with the date of absence ◦ Homework assigned Monday—absent Tuesday—it is due when you return on Wednesday ◦ Paper assigned on Monday and due on Friday— you’re absent Thursday & Friday—paper due on Monday

Once 13 or more absences have been acquired among excused, unexcused, and suspensions, your grade may be reduced 1/3 of a letter grade for each additional absence, to a D- ◦ You have 16 absences and a grade of C in the class You will receive a D-

All students must have permission from a parent or guardian to check out If you do not check out appropriately, your absence will be unexcused and you may receive a consequence Bring a signed letter or note to your assistant principal’s office before school starts for the day Parent can call your assistant principal’s office and request you to check out If you are ill or need to go home, go to your assistant principal’s office to check out If you are coming back that day, you will need to check in at your assistant principal’s office

If you arrive late to school, report directly to the hour in session If you do not report directly to class, you will be considered skipping and receive an appropriate consequence
