 By using technology as a learning tool, students in third and fourth grade gain proficiency in the MAP tests, Wisconsin’s Model Academic Standards for Information and Technology Literacy and in 21 st Century Skills, with an emphasis on collaboration, problem solving, inquiry, information, communication and technology literacy skills as defined by the 21 st Century Skills Partnership.

 Objective 1.a: Because students in third and fourth grade will be using technology as a learning tool during problem-based learning projects they will show progress in reaching their projected target growth in the Reading and Language Arts sections of the spring 2010 MAP as compared to their scores from Spring 2009.  Objective 1.b: Students will also increase their 21 st Century Skills proficiency as measured by a researched-based locally designed assessment.

 Objective 1.c: Students will demonstrate increased comprehension skills 3 times throughout the year as determined by an individual reading assessment inventory.  Objective 1.d: All students will be given the opportunity to demonstrate their questioning proficiency, content knowledge, information, communication and technology skills with a project they design using technology at a Spring 2010 21 st Century Learning Expo. Minimum of 75% of the 3 rd and 4 th grade students will participate in the Expo.

 All teachers in the target group [Principal, four 3 rd and four 4 th grade teachers, Learning Disability teachers (2), ELL teacher (1), Gifted and Talented Advocate (1), Learning Support Teacher (1) Library Media Specialist (1)] will participate in a 21 st Century Skills/Problem Based Learning Symposium and as a result design collaborative science and social studies units that will integrate higher level thinking questions with targeted 21 st Century Skills and UDL Principles into the existing standards-based curriculum.

 Objective 2.a 100% of the teachers will increase their use of technology as a teaching and learning tool and advance upward on the Technology and Learning Spectrum as measured by the Technology and Learning: Administrator and Staff Self-Assessment Rubric. They will apply the knowledge they gained during the 21 st Century Skills Symposium and from the WKCE and MAP test analysis workshop to collaboratively design and implement a fall science PBL project and a spring Social Studies PBL project.

 Objective 2.b The Collaborative Teaching Team designs a minimum of 3 rubrics based on targeted 21 st Century Skills (collaboration, inquiry, critical thinking, problem solving, information, communication, technology skills) so that as students advance through their grade they will improve proficiency in these targeted 21 st Century Skills.

 Install 12 Fiber optic cable and 100 mb switches at Washington Elementary School in order to have reliable and robust access to the interactive web resources that will be used by students and staff to increase students’ academic achievement.
