2 Overview With active participation from individuals and chapters all over the world, the Information Systems Security Association (ISSA) is the largest international, not-for-profit association specifically for security professionals. It provides educational forums, publications and peer interaction opportunities that enhance the knowledge, skill and professional growth of its members.

With its mission to be the global voice of information security, the ISSA has committed to taking a position on issues in each of the following categories to provide guidance based on vast knowledge and experience. Executive/Board Governance The key issues that executive management and boards of directors must know to establish and maintain information security as a necessary function of their business. 2. Industry Self-Governance, Standards and Best Practices A set of agreed-to guidelines that the IT community places on itself as a collective group, establishing criteria that should be met by all industry professionals. 3. Government and Legal Issues Issues that must be first understood, then addressed by government and legal organizations to create national and international policy and establish legal framework.

Education and Awareness Information and advice for security professionals and end-users describing their role and responsibility to help improve Internet security on a global scale. 5.
