DEAN The Dean will receive referrals for the following offenses: Chronic defiance Chronic disruption Committing obscene acts Continued harassment Falsely reporting a fire or bomb Fighting

DEAN Cont. Gang activity Possession of weapons and/or dangerous objects Substance abuse Tagging Theft/Extortion Vandalism of school property

ADMINISTRATORS Administrators will handle the following: Referrals from the dean Recommend Expulsion O.T. Appeals

SCHOOL POLICE Referrals from Dean and/or from Administrators as needed. Guidance Counselors To counsel students and offer support Referrals from dean and/or Administrators.

Teacher Component Objective: A progressive discipline focus should be followed at this level. Following are recommended strategies that can be implemented in the classroom to address targeted behaviors: Be proactive Meet and greet students as they walk in Positive feedback Model Respect Discipline with dignity

If problems arise or continue, follow these recommendations: Proximity correction Verbal Warning Name on board Change seat In class time out Reflective Essay Behavior Letter Parent Conference Note/phone call home Student teacher conference Detention Paper Pick-up Buddy system

Teacher Component Cont. After having implemented a combination of these strategies to address a specific behavior and the behavior has not improved and/or it has become chronic, you may refer to the Dean. Submit the completed referral form, and provide documentation of previous actions taken.

Dean- Administrator Component Once the student is referred, the Dean will determine appropriate consequence according to the offense and previous record. Progressive Discipline may once again start at this level.

Dean- Administrator Component Cont. Any Referral will be documented on the Discipline File. The Dean/Administrator possible consequences may include: Warning Paper pick up Parent Contact Detention
