3. Functional Requirements
Functional requirements: Functional requirements define how the product is to perform and under what conditions.
Example: Car door rubber seal - Will not leak under 20 mph wind and 2 inches of rain per hour for two hours.
When specifications include functional and non functional requirements, it is referred to as gray box design.

4. Tolerance Design
Tolerance design is considered a cost saving technique since loosening tolerances on a specification generally reduces costs.
