Google has a relaxed atmosphere but carefully guards what it considers trade secrets Starbucks has a more rigid atmosphere, works to make sure is serves the public quickly and efficiently. So what is your companies philosophy going to be…….

3 Front Cover Should include your company name Should include your company logo Should contain company addresses and phone numbers Should contain title “ Personnel Handbook” with relevant year Should contain company web-address and email address

4 Table of contents I recommend that you create a table of contents but DO NOT put in page numbers until you’ve decided how many pages the sections will contain and how they are going to be grouped. Table’s of content are usually the first pages of an employee manual and are also usually numbered pages.

5 Introduction Page Explain company philosophy Explain purpose of handbook Explain business outlook-what future plans for company and advancement may look like Whose property handbook is Signature requirement and how policy/handbook can change

6 Conditions of Employment Section should include the words “equal opportunity employer” along with policies about discrimination Applicable laws-labor, Definition of at will “Cause” for immediate termination General Harassment/Sexual Harassment Codes of conduct

7 Employment qualifications What is required for employment Criminal/background checks Drug/Alcohol policies Confidentiality policies Dealing with public E-mail/texting policy

8 The workplace Schedules Breaks Overtime Attendance and tardies Timekeeping Email Voicemail Internet/Social Media Dresscode Return to work policy
