5. إغاثة العوائل المهجرة في العراق Displaced Families in Iraq In a country of 26 million, at least two million have sought refugee status outside its borders and another two million within. Since the growing violence over a year ago, the pace of the displacement has accelerated, this is the largest population displacement in the Middle East since 1948. For the refugees inside Iraq there is a constant struggle, they still face insecurity, inadequate supplies of food, water and medicine. There are thousands of orphans and even more lone parents who are fighting to survive on a daily basis. Iraqis who are internally displaced face even more precarious situation if they do not find the support required.

6. إغاثة العوائل المهجرة في العراق Displaced Families in Iraq According to Humanitarian sources, 1 of 8 children under the age of 5 face death, and 1 of 5 children are likely to get involved with dangerous people and criminal activities. If there is no support from people like us, these vulnerable people face hunger and a loss of life… HRF has been actively engaged in Iraq since the start of the Gulf War in 1991, and has been able to provide critical support to Iraqi civilian’s right up until today. Unfortunately, there is still much more we can do to try and alleviate the pain of thousands of innocent people caught up in a massive humanitarian catastrophe.
