Carbohydrates Function: The function of carbohydrates is to provide energy for the body, especially the brain and the nervous system. An amylase helps break down carbohydrates into blood sugar, which is used for energy by the body. Food: Brown Rice Whole Grain Breads Potatoes

Fibre Function: The function of fibre is to keep the digestive system healthy and functioning properly. Food: Dark Chocolate Dry Roasted Soybeans Nuts

Protein Function: Protein is essential to the structure of red blood cells, for the proper functioning of antibodies resisting infection, for the regulation of enzymes and hormones, for growth, and for the repair of body tissue. Food: Turkey Fish Tofu

Saturated fats Function: Saturated fat tends to increase blood cholesterol levels. Most saturated fats tend to be solid at room temperature, with the exception of tropical oils. Food: Dried coconut Butter Cheese
