What Is the Academy of Finance? n Member of the National Academy Foundation n Students obtain knowledge in the financial field by taking specific financial/business courses

What Are the Benefits for Students? n Obtaining a regular high school schedule n Focusing on finance courses n Paid internship n Mock Interview n Special high school graduation n Attending Young Professional Conference n Finance related field trips n Opportunities for additional scholarships

What Are the Required Courses? n Accounting I A & B n Banking & Credit/Honors Financial Planning n Paid Internship n Entrepreneurship A & B n AP Economics A or B and Honors International Finance or Advanced Accounting A & B n College-level Business Course

What Are the Program Responsibilities for Students? n The students will: –Attend all meetings the first Tuesday of every month –Participate in all school Academy of Finance activities –Complete the Academy of Finance courses

What Are the Program Responsibilities for Staff? n Staff members will: –Attend a national staff development conference every July –Recruit students for the program –Modify National Academy Foundation curriculum to meet the needs of Montgomery County students; teach courses to students –Place student interns with local financial institutions and monitor the student interns’ progress
