Biological Clock: Light Trigger Brain and body operates on a 24 hour day-night cycle. Melatonin: hormone that has a relaxing effect on the body. Night triggers the release of melatonin Light stops the release of melatonin you wake up.

SAD…I know Seasonal Affective Disorder –Tendency to become depressed during certain seasons of the year. Majority of people are depressed during the fall and winter seasons. –Less sunlight

You think you have a disorder dont you? Insomnia: (difficulty falling asleep) –Pseudoinsomnia: people say they have insomnia but actually sleep normal. Narcolepsy: (extreme daytime sleepiness) –Sleep attacks occur spontaneously and last from 1 min-1 hour on average. Nightmares vs. Night Terrors –Nightmares are bad dreams (During REM sleep) –Night Terrors are frightening dreams that arouse the sleeper to a near-panic state (Not during REM sleep)
