Association history dates back to 1895 and is credited as the first state association recognized by the American Association for the Advancement of Physical Education. Membership of OAHPERD includes professional educators in Pre-K through higher education. The Association is led by a 28-member Board of Trustees and its current President, Pamela Bechtel. The Association is served by an Executive Director in Columbus, Ohio.
