Describe program and motivate students Introduce program and provide the end goal We want to take you from nothing to becoming their own entrepreneur ◦ They want to know how much money this building is making per year ◦ Make handout for students Bring students to one of HOW Properties locations ◦ 3221 Spring Garden Street ◦ Show them how we made a successful business Show them how we went from small row home’s to our building making this amount of money in your neighborhood $5000 or a penny day one and doubles each day Need to set time tables The RYYDA Program R ick Y oung Y outh D evelopment A cademy Providing teenager with personal, professional and academic enrichment activities that emphasize business and entrepreneurial principles

Guest speaker will provide presentation with insight on his/her career ◦ About 15 minutes ◦ Need to find a true entrepreneurial ◦ Rick can talk to towards this with all his different businesses ◦ Counselor’s husband? plumbing Students will take PI index ◦ Will help in placing students in groups ◦ 30 minutes Students will begin thinking of ideas for their business (homework, due on Monday) (2 incentives) ◦ 3-5 ideas The RYYDA Program R ick Y oung Y outh D evelopment A cademy Providing teenager with personal, professional and academic enrichment activities that emphasize business and entrepreneurial principles

Brainstorming and group decision making process ◦ 20 ideas, vote top 10, then top 5, then choose winner ◦ Have examples prepared and models ◦ 40 minutes The RYYDA Program R ick Y oung Y outh D evelopment A cademy Providing teenager with personal, professional and academic enrichment activities that emphasize business and entrepreneurial principles

Week 6 ◦ Explain to students different roles in a business Marketing Finance Operations Sales ◦ Assign roles to each student in the group Each role will have pre-determined responsibilities Students begin business plan in each of their roles Week 7 ◦ Bring in experts to help with business plans ◦ Finish business plan WEEK 8 ◦ Bring in experts that can help with business plansBegin preparation for presentations ◦ Show them how they will be evaluated ◦ Assign groups presentation dat The RYYDA Program R ick Y oung Y outh D evelopment A cademy Providing teenager with personal, professional and academic enrichment activities that emphasize business and entrepreneurial principles

Announce the 2 winners to the program ◦ Provide feedback as to why they were chosen ◦ Should students choose one of the groups?? Week 12 ◦ Team building exercise 15 minutes ◦ New roles assigned to students Students work with designated “leaders in each role Prepare business plan for necessary funding 90 minutes (Week 12) The RYYDA Program R ick Y oung Y outh D evelopment A cademy Providing teenager with personal, professional and academic enrichment activities that emphasize business and entrepreneurial principles
