2 We use defining relative clauses to specify which person(s) or thing(s) we are talking about. We use who or that to describe people. The man is the chief designer. Which man? The man who/that is wearing a cap is the chief designer. I like the model. I like the model who/that talked to you just now. Which model?

3 We use defining relative clauses to specify which person(s) or thing(s) we are talking about. We use which or that to describe things. The design course is very good. Which design course? The design course which/that I took last month is very good. Do you like the dress? Do you like the dress which/that Tina is wearing? Which dress?

4 We can also use whose in defining relative clauses. It talks about something relating to the person(s) or thing(s) described. It replaces ‘my’, ‘your’, ‘our’, ‘their’, ‘his’, ‘her’ and ‘its’.
