NHS Summary Care Record (SCR) SCR Security Higher level of security than internet banking Healthcare professionals use a ‘smart card’ and password, like ‘chip & pin’ Audits and alerts built into the system Healthcare professional will ask for patients permission before accessing their SCR

NHS Summary Care Record (SCR) If a patient chooses not to have an SCR (by opting out) or does not give consent to access their SCR, the healthcare professional treating may have to call the surgery in case they need information.

NHS Summary Care Record (SCR) Those that are happy to have an SCR need not do anything further, the SCR is automatically created for them.
