Cadbury Schweppes currently emits 1.5 million tons of Carbon Dioxide a year. Variety of sources: factory emissions, parts and packaging manufacturing, product transportation Absolute goal of reducing carbon emissions by 50% from 2007 levels by the year 2020 with 30% coming from “in-company” actions

As a large and well known company, Candbury wants to do its part to fight global climate change Steve Driver, President Global Supply Chain: "Cadbury Schweppes is absolutely committed to tackling climate change. We are re-thinking the way we do business, embedding sustainability into every decision we take”  In 2007 they pledged to reduce Carbon Dioxide emissions by 50% by the year 2020. Some emission reducing steps: switching to alternative fuels; building new plants

Canada headquarters buys its energy from an electricity supplier that uses wind and low-impact hydro-generators Overall switch to low or zero carbon fuels Purchase electricity on renewable energy tariffs Install "renewable energy" generation on-site (solar, wind, biofuel)

12 Reducing Carbon Emissions
Reduced carbon emissions intensity by 15% since 1990. In 2005, changed coal-fired boilers to natural gas boilers in Bournville, UK; Reducing their global emissions by 1% Aim to reduce emmisions by 750k tones.

13 Offsetting Emissions As a last resort, Cadburys will reduce carbon by incentivising Saving and Switching by others Purchase "carbon offsets" or buy (and retire) "carbon credits" for any remaining carbon emissions Neil Makin (the Group External Affairs Director) says this whould not occur since they have launched “Purple goes Green.”
