23 October 2007 3 Background Hours used Fuel used?

23 October 2007 4 Information to date? With the increase in computer involvement in the combustion process more and more engines have computers as an integral part of their design. Car manufacturers can be seen to be in the lead with standard computers for everything. Off road engines are generally less sophisticated and need to run on a lower and wider range of fuels. However with emissions becoming a greater and greater issue, computers are now standard in just about all construction and forestry machinery.

7 Data transmitted using mobile telephone or satellite The machines are equipped with a computer with integrated GPS- receiver, modem and antenna GPS is used to establish the exact location of the machines The information is processed in a database Users log in on their web page and can effectively monitor the machines remotely and make correct decisions

23 October 2007 8 Service Plan: define service plan and get advice when it is time for service or replacement of wear parts Alarm: make sure the machines are used as they should (Advanced) Error codes (with combination of Alarms and Matris): remote troubleshooting (Advanced) –

23 October 200718 Summary Now have the ability to look far more closely at what we are doing. Now have the opportunity to improve what we are doing. Must make the commitment to look at, explore and develop this knowledge level to our best advantage. It is in the manufacturers’ interest to provide us with this information or provide a service. I believe in depth analyses will be common place in years to come.
