HOW TO TAKE BETTER NOTES? **FIRST ATTEND CLASS!** Material written on the board Look for signal words 1, 2, 3 Main points Definitions Make notes brief by using abbreviations Outline form Headings & subheadings Key words

HOW TO MANAGE TIME? Use a calendar/planner Map out assignments & projects that are due Schedule other activities around homework Make a to do list Prioritize tasks Set personal goals What do you expect to take away from the class? What grade do you want in the class? Where do you see yourself in 3 mths, 6 mths, & etc…

TIME CONT…. Things to avoid Procrastination E-mails Texting & phone calls FACEBOOK!!! **Be sure to take breaks**

HOW TO REDUCE STRESS? Meditate Take deep breathes Learn how to say “NO” Make time for yourself Listen to music Go out for a walk Go work out Take time to write in your journal, etc. Spend time in nature Reading a book, magazine, etc.

HOW TO TEST BETTER? Test anxiety? Break down test material to study for Make & Use flashcards Maintain positive attitude Test Taking Read instructions slow & carefully Skip question if you don’t understand and come back later Write down key formulas/keywords/phrases Review test before submitting
