Circulatory diseases, such as heart disease and strokes, remain the most common cause of death, contributing to almost one-third (32 per cent) of all deaths registered in 2010. However, there is a downward trend. In the last 10yrs this fell by ~40% Cancer accounted for just over a quarter (29 per cent) of all deaths registered in 2010.
