3
Autodiagnostic performances evolution : new functions
4
New features The new implemented features increase the workshop effectiveness and productivity. More precise, accurate, efficient … The new functions are: Diagnostic plug location by pics Vehicle selection by V.I.N. Scan Xpress (automatic DTC scan for all available systems)
5
DLC Location Showing the Diagnostic Connector location through pictures gives benefits in terms of: searching time information ambiguity Useless parts disassembling
6
Vehicle selection through VIN number
The main objective of vehicle selection through VIN (Vehicle Identification Number ) is to avoid: Doubts / lost time during vehicle/model selection Wrong selection due to the similarities between different models of the same manufacturer ( the commercial description often makes people confused ) Through VIN the choice is easier, jumping from “VIN introduction” to “system selection”. The VIN is usual composed of 17 characters, and identifies exactly the vehicle (make, model, engine, model year, and so on..).
7
Vehicle selection through VIN number
The S.A.E. standard for V.I.N. is: Characters 1st to 3rd: Manufacturer ID Characters 4th to 9th: Model info (model, version, engine type…) Character 10th: Model / Year Character 11th: Country code (where it was built) or M/Y for FORD EU Characters 12th to 17th: Serial Number Service Reset ECU Valeo BSI (M/Y if required) 307 Peugeot Validation Access from VIN
8
Vehicle selection through VIN number
The VIN is usually placed: Door frame car side On dash, externally visible… On floor, under a pre-cutted carpet rectangle
9
Vehicle selection through VIN number
10
SCAN Xpress After the “VIN access”, through the new function Scan Xpress it is possible to run a quick & global test. Scan Xpress® is easy to use: just by pressing a key, test will run asking for fault codes to all the covered systems. This is useful for any technician who wants to make a quick check on the vehicle for having a picture of the situation before and after the intervention.
11
SCAN Xpress By using Scan Xpress some steps are overjumped, directly accessing the systems fault memory and saving time. Validation Eng.Man. Airbag A/C ABS Dashboard M/Y 307 Peugeot Comun. Access by VIN DTC report Scan Xpress process

HARDWARE UPGRADE How to obtain new functions
All these new features need a big amount of memory, as imagined. Infact, this update also includes a hardware upgrade for all our diagnostic tools that must be carried out. It consists of a Compact Flash with 2 Gigabyte of memory capacity.
14
HARDWARE UPGRADE How to obtain new functions
From now onwards, the upgrade procedure will be different, because the compact flash must not to be removed from the tool once updated, but it must be IN permanently. Infact, after the Operating System update, the compact Flash works like an HDD in a standard PC. All applications, programs and grabbed data are stored inside the COMPACT FLASH.
15
HARDWARE UPGRADE Practically… So, the new C.F. contains :
Ecureader ( autodiagnostics ), with DLC pics, Vehicle Selection through VIN and Scan Xpress Flight Recorder and its grabbed data Flight Analyzer Troubleshooting Hints Gas analysis program (External 5 Gas module) 4 channels oscilloscope (External Module) N.B.: For anybody who wants to keep all previous Flight Recorder grabbed data, please remember to copy the FDR folder from the previous compact flash to the new one, using a PC.

SMART Special Procedures FORTWO ‘06 – Gear Management
Gear / Engine Adaptation This function allows the Gear Management ECU to learn the parameters that concern GEAR/CLUTCH initialization. To proceed correctly, please respect the following conditions: Vehicle stationary, engine off, key on. Once finished, turn key OFF, then ON. In case of unsuccessful results, it could be necessary to repeat the procedure. In case of problems, check faults in the engine ECU; if some codes are present, fix them before attempting the procedure again.
50
FORD FOCUS ‘07 Special Procedures ABS G-sensor ( lateral ) Calibration
Through this function it is possible to run the sensor autocalibration. It must be carried out when replacing Hydraulic group, ABS ECU or the sensor. Before running the procedure, the vehicle must be parked on a flat surface.
51
FORD FOCUS ‘07 AIRBAG Special Procedures ECU Coding N.B.:
When replacing the ECU, it must be adapted to the vehicle, and it is possible through this function. All steps are totally automated, only the VIN must be manually introduced, carefully doing it correctly. N.B.: The new ECU will be set WITHOUT the passenger airbag switch ( infant car seat ). If present, go to the setting page and use the dedicated function to set it properly.

ENGINE MANAGEMENT Injectors coding This operation allows storing in the ECU each individual cylinder’s injector code in case of its replacement. Through this, the ECU can manage in the optimal way the Injection time according to the new injectors and the present engine status. Usually the codes are supplied with the injectors, but in any case printed on each injector body. Having launched the procedure, just type each code when prompted and confirm.

Once the function has run, the system asks for the security code ( PIN ). BE CAREFUL ! ALL available keys must be coded at the same time ! ALL missing keys will be ERASED and there will be no way of re-using them again in the future ! Please FOLLOW EXACTLY all messages shown step by step by the tool during the procedure.

HIGH-SPEED CAN BUS programming In case of ECU replacement or when CAN BUS setup must be repeated, through this function all the installed systems on board (body, chassis, network…) can be stored as “ present” in the new ECU. During the procedure, the tool will ask step by step for the presence or not of each option, that must be confirmed. To have an idea of the on-board installed options, before starting the configuration, check each item in the Live Data that concerns each option status.

MERCEDES W169 – A CLASS Special Procedures ENGINE MANAGEMENT
Injector coding Through this function the injectors code of each individual cylinder can be stored in the ECU, should there be one or more injectors replacement. This permits the ECU proper injection time management, considering the present engine status related to the new injectors. Usually the codes are supplied with the injectors, but in any case printed on each injector body. The procedure will start showing old code, then proceeds asking for new code that must be written. Each code is composed of letters and numbers, excluding some of them like "J", "Q", "9", "0" (zero) that will not be accepted. Once done, the tool will ask for ignition OFF and wait for 5 seconds, while all codes will be stored. A message will be shown to confirm the procedure’s success.
