Rubric & Evaluators Rubric (pages 5-6 of manual) – Length – Delivery – Development Evaluators – 2-3 Teachers – Scheduled based on technological requests – Requests will be submitted by Monday, 1/26

Length 10-8 minutes = Outstanding 7-6 minutes = Satisfactory 5-0 minutes = Unsatisfactory Appoints are 15-20 minutes long. Only report to appointment; evaluators take attendance. Library will be open.

Delivery (From Rubric) Demonstrates excellent enunciation and pronunciation, eye contact, voice projections, and timing Seldom refers to any notes Appears extremely well-prepared, organized and creative during the delivery Fields questions with poise and ease

Note Cards or Outlines NOTE: a brief record of facts, topics, or thoughts, written down as an aid to memory. Notes (on cards or in outline form) should be read in a glance. Unless it is a quote or specific statistic, do not read full sentences from notes or slides.

Attire Option 1: Business Casual – Boys: Collared shirt & slacks. – Girls: Blouse & dress pants /skirt or dress. Option 2: Career Specific – The explanation can be incorporated into the presentation. Example: scrubs or business suit. School dress code applies.

Q & A Be prepared for questions. These do not count toward the total time. The questions could be professional (research) or personal (future plans, etc.).

Technology Test everything (video, audio, transitions, animations, etc.) before the day of the presentation (2/13). Mrs. Shuman will be available to test technology in the library. – Please get a pass or make an appointment. Mac Lab does not connect to server!

Content Primary Focus: Research Secondary Focus: Personal Connection Slides should be a mixture of word and phrases (NOT SENTENCES OR PARAGRAPHS) with complementary images.

Content The number of slides will vary. Two to three slides per minute is an average/estimated pace. Include images (pictures, charts, graphs) that supplement information in the paper. Explain any/all dominant visuals. Clip art is an accent not a primary feature.

CITING Content Images must be cited. Some websites will provide a “credit” or citation. If a citation is not provided, simply copy and paste the website onto the slide. – NOT THE URL ALSO cite (informally) quotes and statistics using the website name.

Extension Ideas The outline accounts for 9 of the 10 minutes. Incorporate one of the extension ideas below to reach the full 10 minute goal. – Video (60 seconds or less) – Demonstration – Activity – Artifacts (Poster board, samples, handouts, etc.) – Attire Explanation

Video Length 60 seconds of a video will count toward the time limit. Anything longer than one minute will not count toward the time limit unless actively narrating and/or participating. This also applies to interviews. Make sure YOU are the main focus.

Conventions Spelling/grammar/usage errors will be deducted from the Presentation Development section. From Rubric: – Follows the conventions of standard English grammar with no mistakes.
