Data Dissemination It is the process of extraction Statistical information from publications, data bases or other repository to produce statistical output which may be useful for efficient planning.

Uses of Data Dissemination
It increases demands of data for country’s empirical analysis, Due to excessive use of internet, statistical data has become available to data users who are making intelligent use of this information. Users are able to interpret information without any limitation form their imperative in statistics. Provides way not only to intelligent use of data but also ensure easy access to many users.

Census Data Dissemination
The dissemination of the Census data is an ongoing process that serves the needs of the data users over a long period of time. Main objectives of the data dissemination programs are : To deliver & improve products & services by reviewing the experiences of previous censuses and through data users consultation process. To provide better and enhanced products to promote the use of census data. To provide quality assurance strategy to ensure that data tabulations and transformations carried out need to be documented and followed.

The time schedule of data dissemination needs to be realistic and followed strictly. All forms of data dissemination tools should be explored. Staff may be trained on DEVINFO and CENSUSINFO as a data dissemination tools.

Importance of Census Data Dissemination
Census data informs about changes occurring in terms of population in the country. Census data is an essential tool for evidence based planning, for monitoring and evaluation of plans/polices framed on the basis of census data. Census data are used by researchers for analysis of the programs launched by the Governments based on this data.

Current Status of Census Data Dissemination in Pakistan
Currently the Census data is being disseminated in the form of hard copy publications and through Department’s website Census reports are supplied to data users on complimentary basis. Data on important variables is placed on website of PCO i.e. updated from time to time.

Dissemination of Census Data
Detailed data on Population and Housing Census is available on CDs and supplied on payment. Supply of data to National and International Agencies is a continuous process. Special Tabulations are prepared to meet specific demands of data users.

Communication: In this phase strategy such as bulletins are produced in which: Users are informed about new data availability Users find out about new releases and indicators Users may be made aware of new analytical findings.

Product Development In this phase users are informed about : Tools which were used to produce tabulations. Tools which are available to data users to access data bases. Tools that are available to conduct analysis of the data. Data bases may be developed to store clean micro data files to generate non-confidential reports. Metadata may be developed to know descriptive information about the contents, quality and characteristics of the data which may be accessed / downloaded from the internet for other use.

Marketing and Distribution This phase will provide access to data users through requests for : Tables Metadata Analytical Papers Other relevant information For those users who do not have access to internet, the database can be used to provide quick, inexpensive and reliable output to data users on demand.
