Beaconhills Sequential Outdoor Education Program Year 5: Three day, two night program at Jungai centre. The focus is on Environmental Awareness, Aboriginal Culture, introduction to outdoor education. Year 6: Three day, two night based at the Iluka campsite in Shoreham. Students camp overnight for one night, surfing, challenge course, orienteering, canoeing and raft building Year 7: Five day program based in the Eildon Area where students will do an overnight bushwalking, Mountain Biking, High Ropes, Low ropes, white water rafting.

Year 8: Five day program on the Bogong High Plains Falls Creek. The focus is on overnight bushwalking, initiatives, cycling. Year 9: Two options: Nine Day program at the Great South West National Park - Hattah- Kulkyne National Park, activities include: Hiking, raft journey and solo. 12 days, Global Beacons East Timor Program Year 10: Five to seven day program at either: Alpine Hike,Yarra Exploration, North East Cycle TourMt Arapiles Climbing Art Program Gippsland Lakes Sea Kayaking

Do I have to attend- Yes ? The outdoor education program is a compulsory part of the Year 7 program. If you have a medical condition that will prevent you from attending the program you will require a medical certificate.

Year 7 Outdoor Education Program Berwick Campus Term 3 5 days: Monday 31 – Friday 4 September 2015 Location: Eildon area. (2.5 hr bus ride) Accommodation: All nights are spent in tents

Food and Cooking Packed lunch and water bottle for the first day. No nuts, lollies or energy drinks Healthy snacks, all other food will be provided Students will be cooking all their own meals on Trangia Stoves

Permission Forms Still a handfull of forms to follow Please return urgently to the drop box in middle school student services.

How You Can Help! Get your child to organise themselves as much as possible Discuss with them how their preparation can be done and when Go through the Clothing and Equipment List together Lay out all the gear needed and tick off Discuss something that has challenged you and talk it through with your child. E.g. Being away from home the first time. Ensure your child does not bring a mobile phone, iPod or school ipad Be positive
