2
“I don’t know where to begin!” Make a list of thinks you have to do. Prioritize! Break down your workload into smaller parts and complete assignments a little at a time. Begin studying early for tests. You will be more prepared if you have several days worth of quality study time.
3
“I don’t have enough time!” Preview your assignments. Identify the most important topics. This could help you realize where you need to focus the most attention. Then, organize the material in a way that makes the most sense to you.
4
“I can’t stay awake!” Get moving! Get a cool drink of water and walk around your room or your house. Sit in a chair in front of a table or chair to complete your homework and study. Do not read while lying down.
5
“I thought I knew it!” Review the information frequently. Reflect on what you have studied. Quiz yourself to check your understanding. Reread sections of material, or practice similar problems if you are having difficulty with particular portions of material.
6
“There is too much to remember!” Organize the information to create a system that is personal and works for you! Try to rewrite or restate facts. Make relationships among the new information. Draw pictures, make lists, create diagrams or charts to help you understand the main ideas or words.
7
“I think I understand it!” Make up questions about the information and test yourself. Think about what the teacher has stressed as important information. As you read, change statements into questions to review what you are learning.
8
“I read it, but I don’t remember it!” We remember best the things that are the most meaningful to us. As you read, try to think of your own examples to relate to the information. Be creative and try to connect the new information to something you already know.
9
“I just don’t want to study right now!” See if these tips can help you get started so you can get through! Make a list of all you have to do and check off the items as you complete them Do your least favorite subject first and end with the subject you like the best. Reward yourself when you are completely finished. Call a friend, watch TV, listen to radio, go outside to play, use the computer for fun, or play a game with your family.
