Percentages with multipliers We can use these decimal equivalents to work out percentages on a calculator nice and quickly. Example. 63% of 765 The multiplier for this percentage is 0.63 ( notice it’s the same as the decimal equivalent) So 63% of 765 = 0.63 x 765 = 481.95 Remember – to change a percentage to a decimal you have to divide it by 100!

Percentages with multipliers Here is another example Example. 7% of 48 The multiplier for this percentage is 0.07 ( not 0.7 as some people might think) So 7% of 48 = 0.07 x 48 = 3.36
