® Use of Open Standards in the Modernisation of ATM Workshop during ATC Global 6 March 2012
2
OGC ® Open Standards in ATM: Overview Open standards in modernization of ATM worldwide, with focus on AIXM, WXXM,FIXM Role of international open standards from ISO and OGC in enabling consistent aeronautical and weather information to the right user at the right time Outcomes of recent prototyping initiatives sponsored by EUROCONTROL and FAA in collaboration with the OGC increasing uptake of the standards in the Aviation industry How FAA SWIM program and the European SWIM environment are benefitting from such work. Encourage more participation in these activities

OGC ® OGCs Approach for Advancing Interoperability Interoperability Program (IP ) - a global, innovative, hands-on rapid prototyping and testing program designed to unite users and industry in accelerating interface development and validation, and delivery of interoperability to market Specification Development Program – Consensus standards process similar to other Industry consortia (World Wide Web Consortium, OMA etc.). Marketing and Communications Program – education and training, encourage take up of OGC specifications, business development, communications programs Compliance Testing and Certification Program - allows organizations that implement an OGC standard to test their implementations with mandatory elements of that standard Rapid Interface Development Standards Setting Market Adoption Testing & Certification © 2012, Open Geospatial Consortium
