2 ARIES -AT Study L.M. Waganer ARIES 3/20-21/00 Page2 Current Power Core Layout This layout illustrates separate vacuum vessel and inboard low temperature shield components. The vacuum vessel would be difficult to fabricate due to complex contouring. LT Shield

3 ARIES -AT Study L.M. Waganer ARIES 3/20-21/00 Page3 Simplified Vacuum Vessel This combined vacuum vessel and LT shield retains recommended shielding materials and thicknesses. Complete assembly is water- cooled. All power core components internal to vessel are high temperature and replaceable. Plumbing connections are made before door closure. Door sealing welds must be properly shielded for rewelding needs.

A frame must be defined to allow sufficient vessel rigidity and shielding for seal welds. This must be done with CAD drawings. Suspect radius at midplane must be increased.
