There is no right or wrong way to write a resume it is nothing more than a marketing tool The trick is to get one that works for you. How do you know?.... You are getting interviews!!
11
Chronological Resume Date Oriented, newest positions first. Highlights your experience and the Companies you worked for. Positives: This type can be utilized and designed to showcase your experience and hide the possible missing “letters after your name”
12
Drawbacks: Hard to hide a gap in employment Not good if you have had many jobs (Job Hopper Syndrome) Could be difficult to format if you have long term employment 10+ yrs in one place
13
This type focuses on your skills sets and what you bring to the table. Positives: It will allow you to highlight your achievements It helps to minimize gaps in employment, or to showcase your transferable skills and talents if this is a new career move.
14
Drawbacks: You have over 200 skills what do you include? Formatting this type can be tricky as it comes out like we are seeing spots as there may be too many bullets
15
This type is quite effective and the type we try to promote in club. It gives a nice platform to showcase skills and work history. Positives: It is a clear concise way to showcase what you bring to the table and what you have done and where you have done it. Some people find this style easier to edit for targeting to the posting.
16
Drawbacks: Sometimes it gets too long and potential ER’s do not have the time to read it. (relevant info!!) Formatting and consistency is very important with this type as a messy impression is not one you want to make.
