HL-LHC WP2 Brainstorming Meeting 1 Purpose of this meeting: Introduce the main objectives of the new HL-LHC project: Prepare technical proposal by 2013 for a luminosity upgrade in the LHC by 2020 with goal of 5 10 34 cm -2 sec -1 sustainable luminosity and integrated luminosity of 3000 fb -1 (merger of Phase 1 and sLHC upgrade projects). Introduce the main objectives for WP2 of HL-LHC: Develop one to three baseline configurations for the upgrade (e.g. based on NbTi; Nb 3 Sn or hybrid technology). Collect ideas and proposals for tasks within WP2: e.g. B-B studies for baseline configuration(s) (6D beam-beam, chaos onset, minimum required x-ing angle ( DA vs x-ing), with and without wire; CRAB cavities etc Collect proposals of potential collaborators for WP2: EU members (EU funding); US (relation with USLARP?); other (required collaboration agreement?) HL-LHC WP 2 Brainstorming Meeting 2 Interesting Suggestions: Introduce a Parameter and Layout Committee: Assure consistent sets of parameters for the pursued options. Maintain a central website: Central repository with all related files and programs. Evaluate need for formal collaboration agreements: e.g. KEK and TRIUMF O. Brüning – BE-ABP HL-LHC meeting 8.
