A ISO 15000 Part 5 compliant Common Data Model based on candidate or published UNCEFACT Core Components that are linked to the UNTDED/ISO 7372. Methodology for the presentation of data contained in electronic data exchanges onto electronic or paper forms and the update of UNLK to become eUNLK. For each document the project will develop: o A class diagram and document structure o The paper and electronic, re-usable layout description of the document based on the UN Layout Key o Box Completion Guideline o XML profiles o UN/EDIFACT message implementation guide

11 Kuala Lumpur February 2006 UNECE/CEFACT Capacity Building Workshop International Standards to Stimulate Paperless Trade UNeDocs Introduction, Strategy and Objectives Slide 11 UN Rec No 1 UN Layout Key Started 1963, amended and approved 1973, 1981 and later, named as UN Layout Key in 1978 Joint standards work between UNCEFACT and ISO TC154 A methodology to create paper oriented documents with an aligned layout and content Currently there are a UN set of aligned documents, e.g. the EU Single Administrative Document (SAD), IATA Airway bill, FIATA Forwarding Instruction, national aligned documents, e.g. UK SITPRO Topform with about 70 documents and industry specific, e.g. Siemens trade documents

[§15.Rec 1] The United Nations Layout Key serves as the basis for the creation of subsidiary international and national layout keys, internationally or nationally established standard forms and – ultimately – aligned masters and forms used at company level. [31.] Such “derived” layout keys and forms can be successfully aligned only if certain rules are observed, taking into account a hierarchic structure of interdependence and … [32.]

15 Kuala Lumpur February 2006 UNECE/CEFACT Capacity Building Workshop International Standards to Stimulate Paperless Trade UNeDocs Introduction, Strategy and Objectives Slide 15 Summary A combination of cross-border business requirements collected from the TBG domain Working Groups and the necessary international regulatory requirements collated in conjunction with the WCO, paper-based Convention stakeholders and the Trade Facilitation work of TBG15. A harmonised, document-focussed reuse of the UN/CEFACT Core Component Library plus pre- harmonised contributions to the further development of the Library. The application of a holistic approach which incorporates the deployment of all relevant UN/CEFACT instruments and standards. The development of coordinated implementation specifications for paper, eforms, UN/EDIFACT and XML document formats and structures.
