. It is important to regularly practice good internet safety. It is important because it is possible for other people to get into your computer and change things. They may also view your files, which you may want to keep secret, and change them. They could also leave unwanted viruses on your computer, which would be very difficult to get out. Also, you will want to prevent cyber bullying. Cyber bullying is when someone bullies someone else through media, like facebook, verbally. This has lead to many problems, such as teenage suicide. Students should be careful of this. If someone is being cyber bullied, they should delete that friend or just stop talking to them. They aren’t friends if they bully you. Private information should be kept private. Through media, like facebook, lot’s of private information can get out. One must simply put private blocks on that type of information. Also, you shouldn’t share this information with people. This information would include: home address, passwords, phone number, and credit card number. If this information gets out, it could result in things like identity theft, loss of access to media accounts, and maybe surprise visits from people whom you don’t know who may kidnap you and likely do many other things to you that you would prefer they didn’t. There is a top five list of things that students especially need to know about internet safety which were just summarized above on the next slide.

Internet Safety checklist Avoid Cyber bullying Don’t give out private information Keep your computer safe from hackers Tell an adult if something is happening and you don’t understand why Never send things, like pictures, to strangers, there could be viruses on them

Ergonomics Ergonomics is applying the science of design to things like devices and systems that are required by a worker (dictionary.com, ergonomics). Ergonomics should be important for everyone because it is needed to do all jobs that require some knowledge of science Some consequences of not having ergonomics would be a worker not having the ability to do his/her job properly or just not quickly enough. This could then result in (depending on the job) a dangerous workplace for other workers

Ergonomics comparison Hardcover books A hardcover book with a jacket 5/10 A hardcover book without a jacket 10/10 A hardcover book with a jacket is less ergonomic because the jacket makes it more difficult to open the book and read from it. The jacket gets in the way. However, it can easily be removed. A hardcover book without a jacket is very ergonomic because it doesn’t have a jacket to take off or get in the way of reading the book. (Raincost Books)

Intellectual Property Intellectual property is something that is trademarked property originally thought of by someone else. (Dictionary.com intellectual Property) (Ian Lopuch)

File sharing File sharing is legal in Canada (Shelly Stone)

File sharing opinion I think that file sharing should stay legal, but that we should teach people about the possible risks. File sharing is useful because you can send files to other people who may need them (ex. For work or school). However there are possible risks such as the file could be carrying a virus that would affect your computer greatly.
