Definition Connectivism is described by George Siemens as a learning paradigm of the 21 st century. He defines this theory as a learning theory for the digital age. According to Siemens (2004), “Connectivism presents a model of learning that acknowledges the tectonic shifts in society where learning is no longer an internal, individualistic activity ”.

Definition Connectivism is the idea that knowledge is distributed across a network of connections, and therefore that learning consists of the ability to construct and traverse those networks.

 Learning is created through networks.  Ability to see connections between fields, ideas and concepts is a core skill  Shifting foundations- learning is not necessarily under control of the individual. Content

An element that can be connected to another element. The bridges that connect the nodes. Principles Applications

(1) Learning and knowledge rests in diversity of opinions. (2) Learning is a process of connecting specialized nodes or information sources. (3) Learning may reside in non-human appliances. (4) Capacity to know more is more critical than what is currently known. (5) Nurturing and maintaining connections is needed to facilitate continual learning. Content Nods &Connects

Connectivism doesn't examine how people learn. Dependent on external factors such as the Internet, rather focused on how the mind naturally operates. The existing learning theories can be applied to current technologies.
