What have we already achieved? The proportion of people living on less that $1.25 per day has been reduced by 600 million Between 1990 and 2008, the poverty rate has dropped from 47% to 24%

In China, extreme poverty dropped from 60% in 1990 to 16% in 2005 and 12% in 2010 In Madagascar, extreme poverty dropped from 76.3% in 2001 to 67.8% in 2005 before rising to 81.3% in 2010 In Nicaragua, extreme hunger dropped from 55.1% in 1991 to 47.7% in 2005 and 21.5% in 2010 In Comoros, extreme hunger rose from 43.5% in 1991 to 58.1% in 2005 and 67.8 in 2010
