 1) Title  2) X and Y axis labeled  3) data placed on the graph  4) legend created

 All graphs should be titled using the following method  What is the effect of the Manipulated Variable on the Responding Variable  ex. What is the effect of soil acidity on plant growth soil acidity = manipulated variable plant growth = responding variable

 The X axis is always your manipulated variable label the X axis with a title followed by the units ex. soil acidity (pH)  The Y axis is always your responding variable label the Y axis with a title followed by the units ex. plant growth (cm)

 Step 1: figure out how many “ticks you have”  Step 2: figure out what your highest number is in your data  Step 3: divide your number highest number by your number of ticks (highest number/# of ticks)  Step 4: round your number up to the next highest whole number and use that number as your first tick  The point where your x and y axis intercept is always zero

soil acidity (pH)plant growth (cm) 25 412 617 825 to figure out your x axis take your highest number from soil acidity and divide it by your number of ticks so it is 8/8 = 1 to figure out your y-axis take your highest number and divide it by greatest number in the plant growth column and round up so it is 25/5 = 5

 fill in your data and connect all the points soil acidity (pH)plant growth (cm) 25 412 617 825

 legend is a box off to the side of a graph that tells you what each line or bar in a graph represents.  sometimes you will create line graphs with multiple lines

 fill in your data and connect all the points soil acidity (pH) Cactus plant growth (cm) Fern Plant Growth (cm) 257 4129 61725 8 15

 In the left hand column goes your M.V.  In the right hand column goes your R.V.  M.V. R.V. Ex. What pets do your classmates have StudentsNumber of pets
