Revising What are the steps in the writing process? Prewriting, drafting, revising Revising is to make changes that will make the writing clearer to the reader. Writers need to: Add details to make ideas clearer and more interesting. Delete details and ideas that are unimportant or do not belong. Replace dull words with more interesting ones. Rearrange sentences and sentence parts so the order makes sense.
