1 The Next United States Postage Stamp Unveiled Soon… Submitted to the United States Postal Service By Doris Ann James and Mary Elizabeth Johnson

2 Hard-working and Dedicated These bugs deserve to be on the face of our next postage stamp for many reasons: They spend their lives serving this nation! They provide the first step in producing delicious fruits, plants and vegetables through the process of pollination… Mankind's food supply depends greatly on crop pollination by honeybees. They are symbols of love…. When we hear the word honey we think of love and a sense of closeness.

3 The Most Important Bug in America… The honeybee is nearing extinction and much of the reason is man’s fault. We are using pesticides and other harmful agents. They serve as excellent role models for our country because they maintain a very highly organized social system, and they understand how to work together. Bees are quite delicate and assist in keeping balance in our environment !

4 The All American Honeybee,a Product of Our Great Melting Pot Yes!!! The honeybee is a true American. It is found in North America. Although, like many of us, its roots are in other countries …Europe, Western Asia and Africa. This bug is a symbol of the American work ethic. Remember the phrase “busy as a bee?” They begin working at an extremely early age. Honeybees encourage hard work. They work all their lives and die for their queen, their honey and their hives. They even give up their lives for Americans when they are forced to sting to protect their interest.
