Wind is a renewable energy which does not cause harm to the environment. It can provide us with electricity and other uses. Wind energy

How does it work? The wind blows the blades on the turbine around it then turns a generator, producing electricity.

Advantages Wind is free once the turbine is installed. Produces no waste or greenhouse gases. Wind blows mainly at all times. Many people find wind farms an interesting feature of the landscape.

Disadvantages Some days there is less wind. They are quite unsightly around the countryside.

Why we chose wind energy We chose wind energy because it is always a windy day in Northern Ireland, wind energy was our choice because solar power only works in the day unlike wind it works all the time and there is not a lot of sun in Northern Ireland. We chose wind power instead of nuclear as nuclear power involves a lot of concentration as it is extremely dangerous and it also cost a lot of money. You use fossil fuels for nuclear power which is a non- renewable resource unlike wind which can be used over and over again and wind is free and is environmentally-friendly unlike nuclear energy.

Our conclusion Wind energy is a brilliant resource for Northern Ireland as it suits the climate. Wind energy is the best resource because its free and wind blows all the time in remote areas.
