With the data collected, we conclude that the most vulnerable location to flooding would be an area in the Coastal floodplain vicinity. Out of the 5 locations, the Bayside area of La Porte, Texas, would be most at risk of high tides, hurricane flooding and ground subsidence. Flood Plain Data

Explanation of Rankings Location Ranking Explanation Bayside It is in a Coastal Floodplain and possibilities of hurricane flooding and ground subsidence. Huffman The river near this location acts as a potential threat of flooding to the area. Downtown Houston East A shallow floodplain can cause flooding but not of a severe kind. Central Downtown Houston This shallow floodplain causes a potential risk but unlikely. W. Tomball FEMA zone X, are of lowest risk of flooding.

1. What types of problems do you anticipate from the fault data? 1. What types of problems do you anticipate from the fault data? - Expected problems from the fault data would include possible earthquakes and seismic waves from nearby bodies of water. - Expected problems from the fault data would include possible earthquakes and seismic waves from nearby bodies of water. 2. Explain your ranking for each individual location? 2. Explain your ranking for each individual location? -I based my rankings on the amount of faults found nearby the location, by how close the location was to the faults and the density of the faults in a certain area. -I based my rankings on the amount of faults found nearby the location, by how close the location was to the faults and the density of the faults in a certain area. Crime Data 1. How will the crime rate affect the recruitment of future students? -The amount of crime in a selected vicinity will affect the recruitment of students by how high it is. An area with a high crime rate will attract less students and therefore it is better to choose a location with a low crime rate.

Land Prices 2. How will land prices affect the recruitment of future students? 2. How will land prices affect the recruitment of future students? -Students going to a new school will take in consideration the cost of land. For students living off campus, land or apartments are more expensive and for students on campus, the dorm price will rise as well. Land price would be a factor to include in the decision of your location for the recruitment of students. -Students going to a new school will take in consideration the cost of land. Other source of information How would the source be beneficial Location that would benefit the most Location that would benefit the least Places of interest Students will be more attracted to an area with more points of interest. Central Downtown Houston NE Houston Population More students and teachers will come from a highly population dense area than one with a low one. Floodplain Flooding can cause severe damage to the university and much cost to the repairs included with it. Hurricane/ Storm surge As seen this weekend we can see the damage that a hurricane can cause to an area. Watershed Watershed proves to be important because it has a direct connection to the flooding of an area. Population The population will affect the amount of student coming and the jobs to come in. Traffic The amount of traffic will cause congestion and frustration which might affect the recruitment of students. Points of interest Attractions will make the area more interesting an appealing. Land prices Land prices can be paid for later and high prices are needed for a better location. Crime data Crime is important but can be dealt with. Fault data I do not find faults as a high risk because in the Houston area there are little or no earthquakes.
