3 1. Background Recent changes by PsyBA requiring accreditation of supervisors for Psychology New accreditation requirements come into effect in July 2013 Current supervisors: Transition requirements ( before June 30, 2013 ) New supervisors: New requirements for all applications in July 2013

Background Possible impact Fewer accredited supervisors => reduced training capacity Urgent need for development of supervisor training resources, across university sectors Current supervisors who did not have supervisor accreditation to meet transition requirements by PsyBA Development of supervisor training resources for training workshops after July 2013

Objectives for project 2.1 To design training resources that will meet Psychologists Board of Australia requirements for supervisor accreditation Global objective: Comprehensive, 8 training modules, involvement of 4 ICTNs ( South Coast, Sydney, Metro North and East, and the Hunter ICTNs) Specific objective: South coast ICTN, preparation of 2 modules

6 2. Objectives for project 2.2 To up-skill current supervisors to enable them to meet transition requirements for supervisor accreditation

7 3. Project activities & tasks Four Main tasks: 3.1 Online platform to deliver teaching materials 3.2 Preparation of teaching content for 2 modules 3.3 Preparation of video clips 3.4 Conducting pilot supervisor workshops and evaluating these

8 2.3 Project modules 8 Modules: 2 modules X 4 ICTNs 1) Competency-based models of supervision: principles and applications to supervisory practice 2) Establishing SMART goals in supervision: a competency-based approach 3) Supervising for the development of competencies in working with difference. 4) Understanding your development and role as a supervisor

9 2.3 Project modules 5) Supervising for the development of case- conceptualisation competencies 6) Supervising to enhance metacompetencies in supervisee: Reflective Practice and scientist-practitioner attitudes 7) Supervising for the development of competencies in ethical and professional practice 8) Summative assessment issues and specific assessment difficulties (impairment and underperforming supervisees) in supervision

10 4.1 Achievements: Online platform Choice of Moodle as appropriate platform Versatile, can handle assessment material Recruited IT support Established a site licence and portal for the 8 modules (4 courses) http://ozpsysupervisor2.dev.survivor.mq.e du.au Uploaded content Needs final refinements

11 4.2 Achievements Preparation of teaching content Content for two modules were required Preliminary work done previously Revisions and updating Assessment material Assessment tasks formulated Requires evaluation and finalisation

12 4.3 Achievements Preparation of video clips Required scripting, role plays, feedback, recording, editing => final copy, packaging Four of 6 clips have been finalised and recorded in studio Fifth clip: preliminary version has been recorded. Studio recording is pending

15 4.4 Achievements: Supervisor workshops Liaised with Associate Professor Vida Bliokas, (Principal Psychologist, Illawarra & Shoalhaven Local Health District ) & David Hedger (Drug & Alcohol Services ) Identified target group for workshops Current supervisors who were yet to obtain supervisor accreditation Conducted supervisor training workshops on May 22 nd (N=33) and May 29 th (N=30)

16 5. Pending issues and way forward Content for modules Assessment tasks to be finalised Examine online platform for delivery and archiving Video clips Graphics for DVD and cover Record video scenario 5 in studio

17 5. Pending issues and way forward Collaborate with other ICTNs to ensure training package meets Psychologists Board of Australia (PsyBA) Delayed guidelines from PsyBA
