What is “Cloud Computing”? Data is stored, processed, and managed on remote servers using the Internet “Cloud” term comes from diagrams used to represent networks Comes in 3 forms – Software as a Service – Platform as a Service – Infrastructure as a Service

Potential/Future Minimizes e-waste and discourages use of natural resources – Increases utility and drive efficiency through partitioning Makes manual backup and local storage obsolete Positively affects productivity of every industry through their IT Completely restructures software, gaming, music, and film industries Potentially creates concept of personal or family cloud
