The authors used an in-depth case study of the University of Tennessee Diversity Libraries Residency Program along with programs from the Association for Research Libraries, the American Library Association, OCLC and IFLA.  Raschke (2003) finds that academic libraries need to migrate away from using the Traditional Risk-Averse Model and utilize the Innovative Risk-Accepting Model when recruiting and hiring librarians.

4 Selection  Wheeler, Johnson and Manion (2008) created a checklist of strategies to improve law librarian hiring  Howze (2008) finds that search committees are not significantly influenced by how a resume/cover letter looks (form) over the qualifications that an individual possesses for an entry-level tenure track position in librarianship (substance).  Lehner (1997) finds that the selection methods of academic libraries could be improved by utilizing some concepts used in human resource management and psychology literature on the selection of personnel.
