9 2. Narrow your subject down. - Be specific - Be creative Take the Bite Out of Your New Puppy. Grooming and Bathing a Dog. Healthy Lifestyles for Pampered Pets. Teaching an Old Dog New Tricks.

10 3. Develop Your Project Collect information on your topic –Use books, magazines and the internet –Interview experts in the field Use an outline to organize your thoughts. –Introduction –Body –Conclusion

11 The Introduction Hook the audience. Introduce yourself. Tell why the topic is important to you. Tell what your demonstration will cover.

12 The Body Now you can tell the how and why. Tell of the materials or ingredients that you will need. Be specific in describing your steps. Share your experiences. Be sure to keep it all in a logical order.

13 The Conclusion Summarize your main points. Refer back to your opening hook. Leave your audience wanting to hear more. or take action on your topic.

14 Visual Aids Make your posters eye-catching and to the point. –Use only one or two colors. –Words and pictures must be big enough to be seen from a distance. –Use easy to understand words. Present only main ideas.

15 Poster Pointers Use plain type, not fancy printing. Big and simple is best! Backgrounds look good with light colors: –Yellow, Orange and Light Blue Use dark colors for type: –Blue, Green or Purple

17 Presentation Tips Stand Up Tall. Speak Clearly. –Annunciate each word. –Use the tone of your voice to help get your point across. –Don’t forget to pause at the end of sentences. Make Eye Contact.

18 Scoring Appearance – 10% Visual Aids – 10% Delivery – 10% Orderly Progress – 10% Accuracy of Information – 15% Coverage of Subject – 25% Knowledge of Subject – 15% Time Limit – 5% –Demonstrations must be no longer than 6 minutes. –Performing Arts time limit is 4 minutes.
